- National Team, "mighty zebras" impressive AFCON and 2014 World Cup Qualifiers. Latest FIFA ranking have placed Botswana at 53rd in the world and 12th in Africa. Credit should go to the current coach Major Stanley Tshosane whose appointment as a head coach was met by criticism from the media and members of the public.

- The formation of Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD),less than a year old BMD instantly became a household name in Botswana's politics.This party was formed by "unhappy"members of Botswana Democratic Party, currently it occupies six parliamentary seats.
- Controversy has always followed BMD from its formation, after being recognized as Botswana's main opposition party with eight MP'S two of them defected back to BDP. Currently BMD Secretary General Gomolemo Motswaledi's personal belongings are being auctioned for failure to pay the court legal fees.
